Why our product works

Black seed oil

Our main hero ingredient in our product is one that we believe is incredibly underutilized, especially in skincare. Black seed oil has been used for centuries by many cultures and new emerging dermatology research shows that its active ingredient thymoquinone works as an anti-inflammatory agent to help reduce redness, irritation, and flare-ups making it ideal for sensitive skin, eczema-prone skin, and reactive complexions. It is also packed with essential fatty acids, which locks in moisture, giving smooth skin while creating a protective barrier. What’s also neat about black seed oil, is that it targets acne-causing bacteria, helping reduce breakouts while calming inflammation in both acne and rosacea. Many acne medications can be drying or irritating so Good Epi works great in an anti-acne regimen. There are some early studies showing its benefit in psoriasis. Blackseed oil also has anti-oxidant properties, which means it helps fight free radicals, which prevents oxidative damage which contributes to premature aging. As if that isn’t enough, there is also research that it helps in wound healing and repair. That’s why we are so excited to incorporate black seed oil into our formulation.

For those who want to nerd out and want more information, here is the science behind black seed in dermatology.

In addition to black seed oil, we have five other natural, clinically-studied ingredients to repair your skin barrier, calm inflammation, and deeply hydrate.

Repairs Your Skin Barrier

Your skin barrier is your body's first line of defense. When it's damaged, moisture escapes and allows irritants to penetrate. GoodEpi Cream helps rebuild this protective layer with the following:

COLLOIDAL OATMEAL strengthens the skin barrier by supporting the genes responsible for healthy skin structure. Clinical studies show it can reduce eczema severity by over 50% in just two weeks while improving skin pH and hydration.

VITAMIN B5 (Panthenol) accelerates skin repair after injury by restoring the lipid structure of the outer skin layer, reducing water loss, and keeping skin soft and elastic.

GLYCERIN penetrates deep into the skin to lock in moisture and support the healing process.

Calms Inflammation and Soothes Irritation

Redness, itching, and irritation signal that your skin is inflamed. GoodEpi Cream addresses this through multiple pathways:

COLLOIDAL OATMEAL contains avenanthramides—natural compounds that block inflammatory signals and reduce histamine release, easing itch and redness.

ALOE VERA suppresses inflammatory enzymes while boosting growth factors that help skin heal. Studies show it significantly improves inflammatory skin conditions.

VITAMIN E provides powerful antioxidant protection, reducing inflammation and shielding skin from environmental damage.

BLACK SEED OIL offers additional anti-inflammatory and immune-balancing benefits, with research supporting its use in conditions like eczema, vitiligo, and psoriasis.

Deeply Hydrates

Healthy skin is hydrated skin. GoodEpi Cream delivers moisture at multiple levels:

GLYCERIN draws water into the skin and keeps it there, significantly boosting hydration levels.

VITAMIN B5 improves the skin's ability to retain moisture while enhancing softness.

COLLOIDAL OATMEAL supports the skin's natural moisture-retention systems.

Why Moisturization Matters

Healthy-looking skin begins with a strong, hydrated barrier. When the barrier weakens, the skin loses water and becomes more prone to visible irritation. Regular moisturization helps keep that barrier resilient and calm.

Dermatologic studies show:

  • Daily moisturizer use can reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL) — the amount of moisture escaping through the skin — by nearly 50 % in a single week (1).
  • Properly hydrated skin appears less red and feels more supple, with smoother texture and better elasticity (2).
  • Consistent moisturization helps skin maintain a more balanced microbiome and supports the look of reduced irritation over time (3).

In short, hydration isn’t just cosmetic — it’s foundational to skin comfort and visible health.
